Virunga National Park

Virunga National Park is one of the only four mountain gorilla national parks in the world. Today, it is Congo's No.1 Destination attracting a considerable number of tourists.

Virunga National Park is part of the 434 sq km that make up the the Virunga Gorilla Conservation Area that includes Uganda, is one of the few tropical rain forests in Africa protecting the rare and endangered mountain gorillas.

The park comprises of an outstanding diversity of habitats, ranging from swamps and steppes to the snowfields of Rwenzori at an altitude of over 5,000 m.theses primates  live in family groups that are very protective of their home ranges with the siver buck acting as head of the family. while at the park you can also engage your self in some tourist activities such as 1,000 hippopotamuses live in the rivers and birds from Siberia spend the winter there.

While tracking the gorillas in the Virunga you are divided  according to the gorilla groups that have habituated the virunga mountains and these include  Jomba  group   which allows  8 visitors  per day, the Bikenge which takes 6 people,and then the Bukima which takes people 8 and 6 visitors respectively.
